Two people were arrested over the weekend for allegations in two separate assaults over the weekend at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Cherokee Rubrecht, 22, of 35 Moorehouse Place, Bradford, and Eric J. Page, 40, of 2657 Button Road, Hinsdale, N.Y., were each arraigned before District Judge William Todd on alleged assault, Rubrecht on Saturday night and Page early Sunday morning, court records indicate.
According to court records, on Saturday in the hospital’s psychiatric unit, Rubrecht, a current patient, had been combative throughout the day and injured the hand of a staff member.
Rubrecht was allegedly yelling and swearing at staff members and Bradford City police officers, and officers had to physically remove Rubrecht from the hospital. While in the cell block at the Bradford City Police Station, Rubrecht told officers that when he got out, “he was going to get a shotgun and blow all the officers’ heads off. Later he stated he was going to cut all officers’ throats,” court records stated.
Then, at 1:12 a.m. Sunday, Bradford City Police were called back to the hospital for a report of an assault in the emergency room. There, Page allegedly grabbed the left thumb of a nurse who was trying to draw blood from him, twisting the thumb and injuring it, according to court records.
Court records stated that when police tried to arrest Page, he pulled away “and attempted to engage officers in a physical altercation.”
Rubrecht is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; four counts of terroristic threats, all first-degree misdemeanors; one count of simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor, court records records indicate.
Meanwhile, Page is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; simple assault and resisting arrest, both second-degree misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor, according to court records.
Each defendant is incarcerated in McKean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, and both are scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
