Sunday night’s storm caused some issues at a Walker Avenue residence, when a downed tree branch pulled down power lines and caused a natural gas leak.
At 10:10 p.m. Sunday, Bradford City Fire Department responded to the reported gas leak at 33 Walker Avenue. Capt. Mike Scrivo arrived on scene to find a significant gas leak, and requested an evacuation of the immediate area.
Bradford City Police were assisted by Bradford Township, Foster Township and University of Pittsburgh at Bradford police in evacuating all residences on Walker Avenue and the low side of Jackson Avenue between Mechanic and Kennedy streets. An evacuation center was established at the Grace Lutheran Church on Mechanic Street for displaced residents.
McKean County EMA and the American Red Cross assisted, as did Penelec and National Fuel.
Bradford Township and Derrick City volunteer fire departments were on standby, as was Bradford Area Transport EMS.
