HERSHEY — A pair of Bradford Lady Owls cross country runners competed in the PIAA state meet Saturday. The Girls AA race was won by Marlee Starliper of Norther in a time of 17:50 and Danville was the team champion.
Lady Owls Freshman Hannah Lary placed 165th in a time of 22:02. “For Hannah’s first year of running, she had an exceptional year and to qualify for the state meet is an outstanding accomplishment,” BHS coach Mark Kelley said. “She improved by 55 seconds from when she ran on the same course in September. I think she will have an outstanding running career.” Junior Bethany Bednez was 182nd in 22:33.
“Bethany had an outstanding season and culminated it with a great race at the state meet,” Kelley said. “I know that she was determined to get back to the state meet after just missing last year. She improved by 31 seconds from the same course in September. Both girls are back next year and hopefully they have set some goals for next year already.”
