A Bradford woman is in McKean County Jail for allegations that she assaulted a pregnant woman.
Amber L. Harris, 21, of 187 W. Washington St., was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Dominic Cercone on charges of aggravated assault and assault of an unborn child, both first-degree felonies, court records stated.
According to court records, at 1:22 p.m. Thursday, Bradford City Police were dispatched to 187 W. Washington St. for a report that a pregnant female was assaulted. The alleged victim, who was not identified in the criminal complaint, had accompanied another person to the address to pick up some belongings.
When they arrived, Harris allegedly started screaming at them, telling them they needed to get out of the house. The pregnant woman, who was “in the later stages of pregnancy,” went to the front door and asked Harris if it was ok if she waited there, and Harris kicked her in the stomach, court records stated.
The pregnant woman was transported to Bradford Regional Medical Center by ambulance and taken to the OB-GYN maternity floor for evaluation and treatment of any injuries to her or her unborn child, according to court records.
Harris is incarcerated in McKean County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, and she is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Nov. 9.
