SMETHPORT — A Port Allegany woman has been accused of hiding from police a man wanted for aggravated assault allegations.
Crystal M. Moore, 32, of 639 E. Mill St., was arraigned Wednesday night before District Judge William Todd on two counts of hindering apprehension, both third-degree felonies; two counts of obstructing the administration of law and one count of false swearing, all second-degree misdemeanors, court records stated.
According to court records, on Oct. 24, Moore gave a written statement about an alleged assault that was under investigation. The suspect was Christopher Link, with whom she was romantically involved. She told police she had no idea where he was, and she returned within 15 minutes with him on the phone.
On Friday, a Port Allegany police officer called Moore looking for Link, and she said Link was with her and she would bring him to the station as soon as her boss was done talking to her; Moore and Link never arrived at the station, court records stated.
Another officer left Moore two messages on Saturday; she returned the call, said he disappeared the night before and promised to contact police if she heard from him or if he showed up.
On Sunday, officers were checking out a lead at an apartment, and one of the officers found “a male and female smoking in the shadows,” court records stated. The officer asked them “to step around the corner into the light,” and found it was Link and Moore.
Moore was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail, and she is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Nov. 9.
Link remains incarcerated in lieu of $75,000 bail for charges including felony burglary and aggravated assault.
According to court records, in the early morning hours of Oct. 23, Link pushed his way into a residence, came up behind Travis Blackman, and starting punching him in the head; Blackman fell to the ground unconscious and was later treated for injuries including skull and jaw fractures and a lacerated lip.
Link is also accused of punching Caden Lloyd in the face once and causing about $200 in damage to the front door, court records indicate.
He has a Central Court appearance scheduled for today.
