A Port Allegany man has been jailed on aggravated assault charges after allegedly entering a residence and punching a man until he was unconscious.
Christopher D. Link, 27, of 35 Church St., Apt. 12, was arraigned Sunday night before District Judge Richard Luther and committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail, court records indicate.
According to court records, at 1:55 a.m. Oct. 23, Port Allegany Police were called to 639 E. Mill St., where Link had assaulted Travis Blackman and Caden Lloyd within 15 minutes of the call, as well as caused about $200 in damage to the front door.
Link allegedly pushed his way into the residence, came up behind Blackman and started punching him in the head; Blackman fell to the ground, unconscious, court records indicated.
Link then grabbed Lloyd, spun him around and punched him in the face, causing a bloody lip, court records stated.
Blackman was transported to Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport via ambulance, then transported to UPMC Hamot in Erie for surgery due to the extent of his injuries, which included skull and jaw fractures and a lacerated lip, according to court records.
Link is charged with burglary and aggravated assault, both first-degree felonies; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, both second-degree misdemeanors; disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, both third-degree misdemeanors; and two summary counts of harassment, court records stated.
He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
Buffalo, N.Y., man facing additional drug charges
A Buffalo, N.Y., man who was jailed on drug delivery allegations last week was arraigned on additional drug charges Monday.
Dwayne A. “Shi” Higgs, 37, of 101 Kehr St., was arraigned Monday before District Judge Dominic Cercone on charges of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, both felonies; criminal use of a communication facility, a third-degree felony; and possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, court records stated.
According to court records, on April 28, Higgs set up a drug sale with a confidential informant with the McKean County Drug Task Force through cell phone, then sold about .52 grams of crack cocaine to the informant.
Bail was set at an additional $25,000 in the new case, and Higgs remains incarcerated in McKean County Jail. He is set to appear in Central Court on Nov. 9.
Higgs was first arrested Oct. 21, arraigned before District Judge David Engman and jailed on $75,000 bail for allegations that on Oct. 20, he delivered about 1 gram of crack cocaine to a confidential informant, then drove while his operating privileges were revoked in New York state, court records indicate.
He waived a preliminary hearing in the first case on Thursday.
Also waiving a preliminary Thursday was William W. Brown, 30, who has no permanent address. Brown was arrested for drug charges the same day as Higgs.
According to court records, Brown purchased crack cocaine with the intent to deliver it.
Brown is incarcerated in lieu of $75,000 bail.
