Have a hankering for some sweets, and don’t want to wait for Halloween?
The Bradford Landmark Society has got you covered, with its second “Great Bake” Sale scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at 45 E. Corydon St.
The menu will include pies, breads, cookies, cakes, sweet rolls, coffee cakes, scones and more.
“For a fundraiser, it’s appropriate. It kind of brings back old times,” said Sally Costik, curator of The Bradford Landmark Society, referring to the bake sale being hosted at the former Herbig Bakery, now the headquarters of the local historical society.
She said she believes there are going to be a substantial number of baked goods. In fact, she reached out to dozens of individuals about baking for the event.
Costik said she is hoping to raise more than $1,000 to benefit the organization.
The society hosted the first bake sale in May, which turned out to be a resounding success, Costik said.
“We had 1,200 cookies,” she said, adding that the best seller turned out to be pies.
At that event, she said the society brought in more than $900.
“I think we’ll try to continue a bake sale two times a year,” Costik said.
Any leftovers from the bake sale will be brought to the Bradford police and fire departments and The Friendship Table, she said.
Founded in 1969, the Landmark Society is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the Bradford area’s history.
