COUDERSPORT — Coudersport-based state police are investigating allegations that someone fired two gunshots Saturday near a camp in Austin, striking someone in the chest.

Paul Gorog, 74, of Dover, suffered minor injuries as a result of the gunshot, police reported.

According to police, at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, someone came to the camp on Deerfield Road in Austin and fired two shots; one bullet went through a camp window, striking Gorog. The person who fired the shots then fled, police said.

Police did not indicate that there was a known subject, and they did not say if they believe the shooting was intentional.

The release from state police indicates the incident is being investigated as an aggravated assault.
