Bradford Area Public Library, in partnership with CareerLink, is offering a seminar on obtaining GED and HiSet diplomas.
The seminar will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday. The program is free and open to the public.
Studies have shown that, over a lifetime, people with a GED or its equivalent will make an average of $385,000 more than people without the credentials or a high school diploma. Amanda Stewart, the McKean County adult education teacher with Seneca Highlands Intermediate Unit Nine and CareerLink, will discuss the GED, now referred to as a Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma in Pennsylvania, and the HiSet.
The HiSet test is only given in Warren and St. Marys as of right now but it is an option for those who prefer a paper and pencil test. She will discuss how getting a high school equivalency certificate can potentially improve one’s employability, median income and lifetime earnings potential.
