SNOWFALL: We had frost on our car windows this morning; meanwhile, the forecast is calling for sunny skies and high temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s this week.
The weather here in Bradford has often been unpredictable, and this year is no different.
It’s right around this time — October-ish — that we start to wonder when the snow will start. And we’d like to hear your guesses.
We’re collecting guesses from readers for when the first snowfall will happen.
What will pass as the first snowfall for our contest is this: the first day with at least a coating of white on the ground and on the trees in the upper elevations around the area and at least a coating on windshields in Bradford.
Send your predictions to by email to r.bogdan@bradfordera.com; by mail to ’Round the Square, 43 Main St., Bradford, PA 16701; or drop it off in person.
Predictions must include your name, so we can announce your victory, and phone number, so we can contact you.
Anyone care to wager a guess?
PURPLE: Anyone else see the purple line down Main Street this week?
We’ve heard confirmation the line is in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.
The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence website has a wealth of resources for anyone who has questions about signs of domestic abuse and where to go for help.
The coalition advises residents of Cameron and Elk counties to contact C.A.P.S.E.A. in Ridgway at 814-772-1227; residents of McKean County to contact the YWCA Victims’ Resource Center in Bradford at 888-822-6325; and residents of Potter County to contact A Way Out in Coudersport at 877-334-3136.
