RIDGWAY — The Bradford volleyball team lost a well-played, three set match on Thursday to Ridgway 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-19).
Laney Kahle led the Lady Owls with 14 assists, while Ashton McGriff had a team-high six kills. Also contributing for Bradford were Brinya Moffett (five kills, four blocks, two digs), Tara Moonan (three blocks), Erica Marshall (three digs), Ashton Himes (three kills), and Alexis Huber (two kills, two digs).
“Their girls played well tonight,” Bradford coach Steve Burgess said. “Ridgway has a nice team. It was a competitive match and could’ve gone either way. I’m proud of the way the team hustled and played hard. They continue to play as a team and give 100 percent.”
Bradford (6-6) will be off until Tuesday when the Lady Owls host Johnsonburg. The team will hold its annual “Dig Pink Night” before the match.
NORTH TIER
Oswayo Valley 3, Galeton 0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-6)
SHINGLEHOUSE — Oswayo Valley came up with a big win in the North Tier on Thursday, sweeping Galeton in three sets.
The Lady Green Wave got contributions from numerous sources. Madison Miller notched 36 assists and nine digs, while Naomi Cook (12), Shayla Bickel (14), and Jayden Snyder (18) all recorded double-digit digs. Bickel also added 11 kills and 11 points.
Karley Carpenter finished with 10 points and eight digs, and Makenzie Carr (10 digs, six points) and Paige Smith (five points, two kills, two aces, two blocks) also had good matches.
“This was a big night for us tonight,” OV coach Rochelle Kellogg said. “It was our homecoming game. It was a team effort for girls to go out and beat Galeton after losing in three sets over there earlier this year.”
Oswayo Valley (13-5 overall, 8-5 league) will host Cowanesque Valley on Monday.
Otto-Eldred 3, Coudersport 0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-18)
COUDERSPORT — Otto-Eldred (14-0 overall, 11-0 league) remained undefeated on the season with a straight sets victory over Coudersport on the road.
Camryn Thomas finished with 12 kills and five blocks and Emily Smith provided 31 assists. Also contributing for O-E were Alyssa Shelander (six kills, 10 points), Harley Van Scooter (five kills, five blocks, five aces), and Alli Cousins (12 kills).
Joplyn Osgood (29), Shaylyn Black (19), and Emma Powell all notched double-digit digs for Coudy. Haley Keck added 19 assists and EmmaRae Easton finished with six blocks and five kills.
Otto-Eldred hosts Cameron County on Tuesday, while Coudersport (11-3, 11-2) hosts Wellsboro on Saturday.
Port Allegany 3, Northern Potter 0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-17)
PORT ALLEGANY — Jenna Sprankle’s 26 assists and Erin Stauffer’s 24 digs led Port Allegany to a three-game (25-16, 25-15, 25-17) sweep of Northern Potter on Thursday.
Stauffer was also credited with 15 service points, while Hannah Lathrop had 10 service points, 14 kills and 5 blocks, and Kenzie Burr 7 service points, 7 kills and 12 digs.
The win improved the Lady Gators to 7-5 in the league and 9-6 overall. They will be at Galeton on Tuesday.
Leading Northern Potter were Kalie Cowburn (3 kills, 10 digs), Ashley Kunselman (5 kills, 5 digs) and Jenna Hyde (3 kills 14 assists).
The Lady Panthers are 1-12 in the NTL and 1-13 overall and will host Otto-Eldred on Monday.
Austin 3, Cameron County 1 (25-20, 25-12, 24-26, 25-21)
EMPORIUM — Austin came up with a hard fought four set victory on the road on Thursday.
Leading the way was Jordan Brewer with 17 aces and 22 assists, while Cerissa Glover (three aces, two kills, six digs) and Taylor Brewer (four aces, three kills, two blocks) also contributed.
For Cameron County, Amily Schatz had 11 kills, Ashlea Burgett notched five aces, and Shannon Crisp provided 10 assists.
Cameron County (1-13) will visit Otto-Eldred on Tuesday
