ELK: You have one more day to view a live stream of wildlife including elk in Northcentral Pennsylvania.
This camera is set up in Benezette in the heart of elk-viewing country: hdontap.com/index.php/video/stream/pa-game-commission-elk-cam.
Check it out today if you’re interested, as the cam will be taken offline sometime on Tuesday, as the elk-viewing season winds down.
The live stream is a collaborative effort of the Pennsylvania Game Commission, North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission and HDOnTap.
If you make it to elk territory, the Pennsylvania Game Commission offers the following tips for watching the wild animals:
• Stay a safe distance away from the elk — the commission recommends at least the length of a football field.
• Do not park your vehicle where it can block traffic.
• Stay away from private property.
• Be mindful of mating season in mid-September through October, when elk can be more aggressive than usual.
• It’s illegal to feed elk in Pennsylvania. Don’t do it.
MANSION: With the recent passing of Playboy owner Hugh Hefner, many are wondering, what will happen to his mansion?
Hugh purchased the infamous lair, headquarters for his magazine in 1971 for $1.1 million, according to Top Ten Real Estate News.
Located in Southern California, the home that became the Playboy Mansion was originally built in 1927.
“The entire Playboy party scene was much more than just the 22,000-square-foot mansion with a built-in pipe organ, wine cellar with secret door and bathhouse,” Top Ten Real Estate News explains. “Near the famous pool is the licensed zoo with Hefner’s monkeys, flamingos, peacocks and a few real bunnies.”
This was across the street from a six-acre acre party compound.
Hugh sold an adjacent Bunny Hutch complex a few years ago for $17.25 million. Then, in 2016, he sold the Playboy Mansion itself for $100 million to his next-door neighbor, Daren Metropoulos — with the stipulation that Hugh could live there for the rest of his life, according to Top Ten Real Estate News.
