Kane-based state police announced Thursday that they investigated two assaults this week at McKean County Jail.
Police provided the information in two separate releases and did not indicate that the alleged incidents were related.
The first occurred at 9 a.m. Monday, when James Patrick Kemick, 33, entered the cell of a 27-year-old who was asleep. Kemick allegedly punched the man multiple times in the head and kicked him once, police reported.
Then, at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, Steven Robert Curcio, 48, allegedly entered the cell of a 50-year-old man who was asleep and struck him once in the face. The 50-year-old man suffered serious injury in the attack and was transported to Bradford and Warren for medical treatment, according to police.
Police said charges will be filed in both alleged incidents at the office of District Judge William Todd in Smethport.
Police did not specify what charges will be filed in either case, but the nature of the allegations against Kemick are listed as harassment on the release from police, and the nature of the allegations against Curcio are listed as aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Court records show that Curcio was incarcerated in McKean County Jail Sept. 16 in lieu of $100,000 bail for allegations he grabbed the arm of a woman who was standing next to his truck and began driving, dragging her along, then he ran over her right leg with the truck, injuring her. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Kemick is incarcerated in lieu of a total of $95,000 bail in four separate court cases, records indicate. Kemick has been charged in two burglary cases, one theft case and one loitering and prowling at nighttime case.
