ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Recent works created by New York City artist Liz Whitney Quisgard will be part of an exhibition set to open Oct. 17 at The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University.
“Arabesque” will feature some textile works by Quisgard, along with some of her most famous architectural pieces, paintings and sculptures depicting a quasi-imaginary world where everything is covered in an ornamental design reminiscent of Arabic or Moorish decoration.
Quisgard will give a talk at 1 p.m. Oct. 17 in the Beltz Gallery of the Quick Center. A reception will follow.
Quisgard, who was schooled at the Maryland Institute College of Art and lives and works in New York City, has donated eight sculptural pieces to the St. Bonaventure art collection as well as a painting titled the “Pulpit at St. Patrick’s,” which will be a part of the “Arabesque” exhibition.
Gallery hours at the Quick Center are noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The exhibition will remain open until June 30.
