A Bradford man has been charged with strangulation, among other charges, for an alleged assault early Sunday morning.
Darrell Daymar Carter, 60, of 15 Prendergast Ave., was arraigned Sunday before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of strangulation, a second-degree felony; terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary charge, court records stated.
According to court records, about 10 p.m. Saturday, Carter and a woman got into an argument, and she left to go out with her friends. When she returned, she and Carter began to argue again.
While the woman was on the phone with her son, Carter allegedly started to hit her in the head repeatedly. At one point during the altercation, he allegedly choked her to the point she could not breathe, then threw her into a wall, court records stated.
Carter also allegedly told her he was going to kill her.
Carter was not there when police arrived, but he returned while they were interviewing the woman and admitted that he the argument had turned physical, court records indicated.
He was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
