A Bradford man was arrested on allegations that he tried to rob the Choice store in Bradford at knifepoint on Saturday.
Bradford City Police indicated that Dennis Michael Fuino, 58, was not given any money by the store clerk. No injuries were reported.
Fuino is incarcerated in McKean County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail, Bradford City Police reported.
According to police, on Saturday afternoon, Fuino entered the Choice store at 84 W. Washington St., allegedly brandishing a knife toward the clerk and demanding all of the money.
The clerk, who did not hand over any money, pressed the panic button, and Fuino fled, knowing the police were notified, police reported.
Bradford City Police responded at 2:01 p.m. and did not find Fuino in the immediate area of the store.
They continued the investigation, and in the early morning hours on Sunday, a search warrant was executed at 7 Colegrove Ave., Bradford — Fuino’s residence. He was taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Richard Luther.
Patrolman Richard Obermeyer is the the investigating officer in the case.
Fuino is charged with attempted robbery, a first-degree felony; possession of a weapon, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault and attempted theft by unlawful taking, both second-degree misdemeanors, court records stated.
He is scheduled to appear in McKean County Central Court at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.
No attorney was listed for Fuino on the online court docket.
In an unrelated case, Fuino is currently facing allegations that he was found to be selling unreleased Zippo lighters that had been taken from the company’s Barbour Street headquarters, according to court records.
He has a last day to plea conference scheduled for Nov. 9 in the McKean County Court of Common Pleas for the case, in which he is charged with one count of receiving stolen property, a first-degree misdemeanor, court records stated.
