An information night will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hill Memorial Church regarding this year’s Christmas plan, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”
A description of the play and information about rehearsals and more will be given out; a question-and-answer session will take place. People do not need to attend this event in order to try out, said the Rev. Jay Tennies, pastor. He noted that tryouts are set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 14.
“This is a funny, but touching tale of what happens when six streetwise siblings hear the story of Christ’s birth for the first time as they take over the main roles in a church’s annual Christmas pageant,” said Tennies.
The play by Barbara Robinson will be performed in the sanctuary of Hill Memorial at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1; 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 pm.
“All profits from the performances are being donated to Destinations-Bradford,” said Tennies. Funds will support the faith-based, non-denominational charity which meets local people’s needs throughout the year, he explained.
“We are looking for all kinds of talents, not just actors” said Tennies. “There are lots of ways to help, from ushering at a show to taking tickets, making costumes, playing carols, finding prop, taking photos and distributing posters.”
Theater veterans Nanci Garris and Diane Kerner Arnett are co-directing the 75-minute play, one they put on to sold-out audiences in 2006 for Bradford Little Theatre.
There are speaking roles for eight boys and nine girls, ages 5 to 13; two adult males; and five adult females. Other children can be in the angel and baby angel choirs. Also, two firefighters are needed in one scene.
