A Bradford man was jailed late Wednesday for allegedly stalking a woman at various times in August and September.
Stephen Hale, 60, of 56 Pratt Hollow, is charged with stalking, a first-degree misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary offense.
On Sept. 18, the female victim gave statements to police that she was being stalked by Hale. On Wednesday, the victim contacted police and said she needed help immediately, as she was cornered by Hale in his truck, according to court records.
Police responded, had Hale pull his truck around the corner from the victim and talked to him there. He admitted he had been told not to follow the victim, court records allege.
Upon investigation, police learned Hale had allegedly followed her to the street where she lives, sat in the parking lot of a business and watched her at Festa Italiana, showed up where she works, sat outside local establishments when she was inside and called her from a blocked phone, court records state.
He was arraigned late Wednesday before on-call District Judge David Engman and remanded to jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court Oct. 5.
