SMETHPORT — The McKean County Commissioners agreed unanimously Tuesday on a resolution authorizing the county to apply to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for funds on behalf of A Partnership in Housing and YWCA Bradford to provide homeless housing services.
The county’s proposed project has been declared eligible and approved for this funding, which is available for local governments. The funding is to come from a grant from the Emergency Solution Grant Program. A Partnership in Housing, on the commissioners’ behalf, is authorized and directed to execute an ESG application in the amount of $150,000 to DCED. This amount represents $75,000 for services provided through A Partnership in Housing and $75,000 for services provided through YWCA Bradford.
A Partnership in Housing will assume responsibility for securing the required $75,000 matching amount of project funds for services made available through that agency. Meanwhile, YWCA Bradford will be responsible for securing the $75,000 matching amount of project funds for services provided through their organization.
In other action, commissioners also passed a resolution directing the county to enter into a participation grant agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services for the Medical Assistance Transportation Program for the 2017-18 fiscal year. Tentative allocation is $684,884 and it will be administered by the ATA.
Two county aid applications gained approval. They are $9,707 for Keating Township to purchase aggregates for township roads and $5,516 for Lafayette Township’s seal coating project.
