People who loves games or who want to learn how to play or improve their chess game are invited to visit the Bradford Knights’ Chess Club at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4 or Nov. 1 at School Street Elementary School.
Players should register at the door. The club meets from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. each Wednesday in the School Street Elementary cafeteria.
All students in grades 3-12 are invited to join the scholastic chess program.
The 27th annual Bradford Businessmen’s Chess League will begin Nov. 1 and run through Feb. 28. Adults are also welcome.
Many activities are scheduled, including pizza parties, matches and tournaments.
The Pennsylvania State Scholastic Championships are scheduled for March 2-4. On Nov. 1, the group will hold its annual speed chess championship. The season will end Feb. 28 with a pizza party, followed by awards.
Research continues to confirm the educational value that chess instruction has on cognitive development, critical thinking skills, and academic gains.
