A Custer City man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly running over a woman with his pickup truck over the weekend.
Steven Robert Curcio, 48, of 150 West Warren Road, was charged by Bradford City Police after an altercation at 2:40 p.m. Saturday on Pearl Street in Bradford.
According to court records, when police arrived on scene, a woman was sitting in the middle of the road, covered in “road burn.” She told police she had been run over, advising police it was Curcio in a white pickup truck who had done it.
Witnesses said they heard people arguing and looked outside. The woman was at the passenger side of Curcio’s truck, and he was behind the wheel, court records state. She told him to leave several times, but he did not. She went around to the driver’s side of the truck and reached inside, at which point Curcio allegedly grabbed her arm and accelerated the truck, driving down the street dragging her along, court records state.
She became dislodged a short distance down the road, and witnesses said they saw the back left side of the truck bounce up when it ran her over, court records state.
The victim told police her friend had been at her Pearl Street residence, and had fought with Curcio earlier in the day. Curcio showed up at the residence, went on the porch and was yelling at the victim, who told him to leave, court records state. Curcio got in his truck, but continued yelling. The victim walked up to the truck and Curcio spit on her; she went to the driver’s side and he grabbed her and drove off.
The victim said the driver’s side rear tire ran over her right leg, according to court records.
Police said Curcio admitted to having “done cocaine the night prior,” and a drug recognition expert from the state police concluded he was under the influence at the time of the incident, court records allege.
Curcio is charged with aggravated assault with extreme indifference to the value of human life, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault and aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, second-degree felonies; aggravated assault by vehicle, a third-degree felony; accidents involving injury, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, recklessly endangering another, second-degree misdemeanors; DUI; and several summary citations.
He was arraigned before District Judge Dom Cercone and remanded to jail in lieu of $100,000. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
