KANE — Theft charges have been added to a criminal case against a Mount Jewett woman.
Amber Leschner, 27, appeared for a preliminary hearing Monday before District Judge David Engman, who bound all charges against her to court, according to court records.
Court records indicate that in addition to the two felony counts of forgery that she initially was charged with, Leschner is also now charged with two counts of theft by deception, for a total of four counts.
According to court records, once in June and once in July, Leschner wrote out checks to herself from an employer’s account, forged the employer’s name and cashed the checks at a Kane credit union for a total amount of $160.
Leschner is free on $5,000 unsecured bail.
