The McKean County Veterans Services Office is open limited hours for the rest of the month with its director out on medical leave.
Melissa Davis of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, who has worked with state Rep. Martin Causer’s office, is filling in at the veterans services office at the county courthouse in Smethport. Director Zach Pearson of Port Allegany was injured in an accident, but Commissioner Cliff Lane could not provide specifics because of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations.
“We wish for his speedy recovery from his medical emergency. The county is dedicated to making sure veterans have a voice,” Lane said.
The Department of Veterans Services assists McKean County veterans and their dependents in securing county, state and federal benefits.
