SMETHPORT — Jasmine Rettger, 17, is a member of the MJ Ryan Funny Bunnies 4-H Club, and she is the featured member of the club for September/October.
Her project is working with rabbits.
“I have a 4-year-old Silver Fox rabbit named “Gemma” and a 2-year-old mixed breed rabbit named “Baby,” Jasmine said.
She has held the titles of president, vice president, treasurer, game leader and news reporter during her time in 4-H.
Jasmine said her favorite memory with the group “is when I won first place at the McKean County Fair, and then that same rabbit went on to win Best in Show that year.”
Outside of 4-H, “I am a 4-year member of the Marching Band at Bradford Area High School,” she said. “I have also been swimming competitively for about 11 years now.”
Regarding her start in the program, Jasmine explained, “My older sister was in 4-H and at the time I wanted to be just like her. It teaches young kids responsibility and how animals rely on them just as much as people.”
