HELPING HAND: After reading that local food pantries are in need of help, local woman Lori Kincaid felt she wanted to help.
Kincaid, through The Beach House Tanning Salon at 1020 E. Main St., will be collecting cans for the local food pantry. The tanning salon will collect throughout September in its “Tans for Cans” event.
“I am inspired to help because we have been fortunate enough to be in business for 15 years now in the Bradford community and we would like to give back,” said Lori.
According to Lori, the event works like this:
• Customers that donate 1 to 3 cans will receive a free level one or level two tanning session.
• Customers that donate 4 to 6 cans will receive a free level 3 or 4 tanning session.
• Customers that donate more than 6 cans or non perishable dry food items will receive a free session in our level five unit.
REMEMBRANCE: The Erie VA Medical Center will host its annual Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk from noon to 12:30 p.m. on Monday in its second flood Pavilion.
Monday is Patriot Day and the anniversary of 9/11.
According to the center, the event is to “remember those who were taken by suicide and to further build awareness of suicide prevention programs available to Veterans.”
The theme for 2017 is “Be There.”
The center offers this advice to people whose loved ones could use some extra support: “A simple conversation, a simple question, a simple gesture of support can make a huge difference to help Veterans know they are not alone.”
The center will also hold a POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony at 1 p.m. Sept. 15 in its second floor conference rooms.
