A Smethport man has been charged with burglary for allegedly breaking into someone’s home and stealing money.

Adam Scott Emerson, 37, of 15 Frey Drive, is charged with burglary, a first-degree felony; criminal trespass, a third-degree felony.; and theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, first-degree misdemeanors.

According to court records, on Aug. 4, Emerson broke into a residence on West Valley Road in Norwich Township and took $380 that was inside a kitchen cabinet.

Emerson is free on $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 11 before District Judge Bill Todd in Smethport.
