A Port Allegany man is in McKean County Jail, charged with allegedly assaulting his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.
Adam Karl Lloyd, 37, of 70 Pearl St., is charged with strangulation, a second-degree felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; harassment and disorderly conduct, summary offenses.
According to court records, at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Port Allegany police responded to 70 Pearl St. for a report of a domestic dispute. Police spoke to Lloyd’s girlfriend, who said she and Lloyd were in an argument which began physical. He claimed to have received messages over social media saying his girlfriend was cheating, court records allege.
Lloyd allegedly pushed her onto the couch, refused to let her up, held her down and choked her so she was unable to breathe, court records read.
Police noted injuries to the victim’s hand, arms, face and neck, the records read.
Lloyd was arraigned Thursday morning before District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court Sept. 7.
