A Bradford woman has waived a preliminary hearing on allegations that she threatened to kill paramedics who took her to the hospital when she was “heavily intoxicated.”
Stephany Lyn Buchanan, 36, of 126 Summer St., is charged with two counts of terroristic threats, first-degree misdemeanors, and disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor.
According to court records, at 1:22 a.m. Aug. 25, Bradford City Police were dispatched to assist paramedics with an unresponsive female at 126 Summer St. When police arrived, Buchanan was conscious, but heavily intoxicated, court records read.
Two paramedics arrived on the scene to evaluate Buchanan, and found her to be too intoxicated to knowingly refuse treatment, and told her she must go to the hospital, Bradford police said. She refused. Police detained her with handcuffs and helped carry her to the ambulance, as she yelled and swore at the police and paramedics, court records allege.
While she was being placed on a stretcher, she attempted to bite one paramedic and kick the other one, but was unsuccessful, court records state. She threatened both paramedics, saying she was going to “smash their faces and kill them,” and that she was going to “cut their throats” along with other death threats and threats of violence, the records allege.
When Buchanan was taken into the emergency room at Bradford Regional Medical Center, she continued to yell and swear at the staff, court records state.
She waived her preliminary hearing Wednesday in McKean County Central Court, and was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
