RIDGWAY — A Johnsonburg-area man is in stable condition after allegedly being stabbed in the chest by his wife Monday morning.
Theresa Ann Steudler, 70, was jailed on $50,000 bail after being charged with aggravated assault, Ridgway-based state police reported.
Meanwhile, Ronald Joseph Steudler, 73, was first taken to Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys for treatment, then flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Altoona, where he was reported by police to be in stable condition.
Police said that at 7:10 a.m. Monday the couple was arguing at their 928 Silver Creek Road home in Ridgway Township. At some point, Theresa Steudler allegedly stabbed Ronald Steudler “in the upper right chest area with a knife.”
State police said a family member who was in the home — but who did not witness the incident — called police.
Theresa Steudler is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, both second-degree misdemeanors, court records stated.
She is incarcerated in Elk County Jail, and she is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 6.
Johnsonburg and Ridgway ambulances assisted at the scene.
