JOHNSONBURG –– The duo teams of Andrea Winsor and Kate Pfeil as well as Sierra Williams and Sophie Sheridan each won their respective doubles matches, but Bradford High lost a narrow 4-3 decision in girls tennis Thursday.
The Winsor-Pfeil team beat Johnsonburg’s Alexandra Hodgdon and Madison Amacher 8-6, while Williams and Sheridan blanked Julia Shutz and Rachel Buhite 8-0.
Pfeil won the Lady Owls’ (0-2) lone singles match, topping Amacher 6-2, 6-2.
“Kate Pfeil had a great night on the courts,” BHS head coach Rhett Kennedy said.
Winsor fought back in a second set tiebreaker, but lost 7-4 and 10-6.
“Andrea Winsor struggled early, but came back in the second set 5-2 to win in the tiebreaker, but ultimately lost in the third deciding match.”
Bradford High returns to action Monday vs. Elk Catholic at Pitt-Bradford.
