After some great play at a pair of local invitationals, the Bradford Owls boys golf team won its first dual-meet of the season 230-237 over Elk Catholic on Wednesday at Pine Acres Country Club.
Brice Whelan and Joey Frigo both shot 44 for the low individual scores of the day, while Joe Gorse (46), A.J. Gorse (48), and Thomas Anderson (48) all broke 50.
“It was nice to have Brice and Joey as co-medalists,” Bradford coach Travis Faulkner said. “The guys still weren’t quite where they want to be. They each had a bad hole or two which upped their score a little bit. But I’m happy we got the win.”
Brady Schneider went low for Elk Catholic with a 45.
Bradford will take on St. Marys on Tuesday at Bavarian Hills.
Elsewhere, Oswayo Valley improved to 2-0 on the young season, defeating Port Allegany 32.5-22.5.
Gunner Bean (46), Ryan Graves (47), and Camden Graves (48) were the low shooters for the Green Wave. Jake Anderson (47) and Marcus Murphy (49) had the low scorers for the Gators.
