The Bradford City Water Authority heard at Wednesday’s meeting updates on several ongoing projects, which include multiple line relocation and replacement projects.
Chivers Construction of Fairview is about 30 percent done relocating a 20-inch main line at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. The $438,335 project is being funded by the university and is slated to be finished Sept. 20.
Another relocation project, this one for an eight-inch main line at the Bear Run Bridge on Big Shanty Road, is scheduled to begin by Sept. 18. Klinginsmith Construction of Conneaut Lake anticipates to complete construction in four weeks.
The line is being moved so the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation can replace the box culvert bridge over Bear Run. As the project is under PennDOT’s rapid bridge replacement program, the authority will be reimbursed for 75 percent of the $36,275 cost.
On Helen Lane, Klinginsmith Construction is scheduled to begin replacing a four-inch main line with a six-inch line by Oct. 16. The $70,530 project is expected to take four weeks.
According to the authority, the authority distribution crews have had to repair numerous breaks in the Helen Lane area over the past few years.
On the watershed, M&M Construction from Johnsonburg will begin construction for a fishing pier and canoe launch at Marilla Reservoir Sept. 5.
The water level will need to be partially drawn down about six feet between Sept. 7 and 17 for foundations to be installed. Officials anticipate construction to be complete by Oct. 13.
In other news, the authority approved the sale of its property at 81 Glenwood Ave. John R. Kohler is to purchase the .51-acre property for $8,900.
