COUDERSPORT — A Belfast, N.Y., man is facing allegations that he failed to follow registration requirements under Megan’s Law.
According to Coudersport-based state police, Clarence Robert Borden Jr., 60, violated his requirements as a sex offender under Megan’s Law between April 25 and Wednesday in Sweden Township.
Borden is charged with one count of failure to comply with registration requirements, a second-degree felony, police stated.
Borden was released on $2,500 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 29.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justices website states that he is a sexually violent offender who was convicted of sexual abuse in two separate cases. The website indicates that he was convicted in 1990 of having sexual intercourse with an 8-year-old girl, and he was convicted in 2003 of having sexual contact with a 3-year-old girl.
