LITTLE LEAGUE: Sometimes help comes from unexpected places.
If you’re a parent or relative of a Little League player, or you’re just a big fan of baseball, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation can keep you from getting lost on your way to your “Field of Dreams.”
The agency’s new webpage, www.511pa.com/LLWS, offers “real-time travel and alternate-route information to assist motorists traveling to the Little League World Series in Williamsport.”
The page will monitor travel conditions on main routes to the event, with travel times and alerts for Route 15 south to Route 220 to Market Street; Route 15 north; Interstate 80 east to Route 220 north to Market Street; and I-80 west to Route 15 north.
According to the Little League website, the World Series begins today and will last through Aug. 27.
“In addition to Little League World Series information, motorists can usewww.511PA.com to check conditions on nearly 40,000 roadway miles in Pennsylvania,” according to PennDOT. “511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 825 traffic cameras.
“511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.”
