GLEN CAMPBELL: With the recent passing of musician Glen Campbell, Lisa Johnson, chief executive officer of Bradford Ecumenical Home Inc., recalled a time when members of the singer’s family visited Bradford just a couple of years ago.
Glen died on Tuesday of Alzheimer’s disease.
Lisa writes, “On behalf of all the individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, family members and caregivers, we are saddened by the passing of inspirational singer Glen Campbell at the age of 81. We were deeply moved by the awareness that Glen and his family offered.”
She shared this photo by Shawn Murray Photography of Glen’s family members and some Ecumenical Home folks.
“It was an honor to have met Glen’s family and host a reception with his wife, Kim, and musical performance by his children, Shannon and Ashley Campbell, in Bradford in April 2015,” Lisa stated. “Following their meet and greet, a viewing of his documentary, ‘Glen Campbell . . . I’ll Be Me,’ sharing Glen’s extraordinary journey he and his family navigated 151 shows despite the unpredictable nature of Glen’s disease using love, laughter, and music as their medicine.”
Lisa said there will be a limited number of copies of the DVD available at Bradford Ecumenical Home by calling 368-5648.
“We were so fortunate to know Glen and his incredible family who bravely shared their Alzheimer’s journey with the world, said Lisa. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
With as many famous songs as Glen had over the decades, we bet some of our readers have good stories featuring his music in the background. We’d love to hear them.
