REW –– The resurgence of Old Bradford Speedway continues this Sunday, Aug. 13, with the first Super Late Model, Battle of the Bull Ring.
The track under the ownership of Norm Asel of Kane, PA, has seen new bleachers, concession stands, ticket booths, pit buildings and concrete walls around the track in the last year.
The Battle of the Bull Ring will be a 40-lap feature event paying $3,000 to the winner. Thus far, Chub Frank, Boom Briggs, Dave Hess, Greg Oakes, Doug Eck, Charlie Powell. Ward Schell, Brady and Mikey Wonderling along with Damian Bidwell and more are expected at the event.
Frank was the Stars Champion from 2000 to 2003 and the Driver of the Year at Bradford Speedway in 1987.
Also on the 4-star racing card will be the Rush Late Models. Their feature will pay $800 to the winner, billed as the Jim “Plum Crazy” Byerly Memorial. The Pure and Mini Stock will be part of the program as well.
Sponsors for the night include: Andrews Sales and Service, Callahan-Weber Hydraulics, Duffy Inc., Friends of Old Bradford Speedway, Schaffer Oil and Ungermann Sand & Gravel & Excavating.
Grandstand admission for kids (ages 10-16) are $5 and patrons 17 and up are $15. Pit passes cost $30. The gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m.
