Three properties in Bradford City were declared public nuisances at Tuesday’s Board of Health meeting.
City council heard a description of the properties — 15 Cole Ave., 8 Harris Court and 9 Harris Court — from city health director/building inspector Michael Cleveland. He answered questions about the structures from special counsel Stacy Sorokes Wallace.
The structure at 15 Cole Ave., which is owned by Frederick Struss of Pittsburgh and has been vacant since 2011, is not only a nuisance, but also a “major fire hazard,” said Cleveland, who said problems include roof deterioration, broken windows and a bad foundation. “It has been condemned since 2012, I believe,” he said.
Meanwhile, 8 Harris Court, owned by George Cabisca of Russell, was being declared a nuisance due to the “overall condition of the property, beginning with the roof and going down to the foundation,” said Cleveland. Problems with the home include holes in the walls and roof and broken windows and unsafe steps. The roof is covered with a tarp, as is the side porch.
At 9 Harris Court, owned by Catherine Walker, the “interior of the structure is terrible,” said Cleveland, who explained there is water damage, unstable exterior walls and garbage throughout the property.
Officials also heard an update on two properties,130 Barbour St. and 32 State St., that were declared public nuisances in May.
“Those properties are ready to be razed at any time,” said Wallace.
