One last time, the coaching staffs of Elk Catholic and Gowanda will have the opportunity to lead teams with their recent graduates on the rosters in tonight’s Big 30 Charities Classic. Leading the Pennsylvania all-stars is a staff headed by Elk Catholic’s Tony Gerg. The Crusaders finished last season 8-4 and advanced to the District 9 Class A title game, losing to Ridgway.

Assistant coaches Marty Braun and Tom Heary will have on last opportunity to coach their sons, Jared and Ryan, who will both be lining up for the Pennsylvania defense.

For New York’s staff, Gowanda finished a 6-3 campaign a win shy of the New York Section 6 Class C title game. New York head coach Sean Gabel, a 1993 graduate of Gowanda, missed out on his chance to play in the Big 30 game because the rules then dictated he could play in just one postseason all-star game.
