The Richard E. McDowell Trail will be closed Monday at its Dorothy Lane crossing due to construction.
The closure is necessary for beam-setting to take place on the project. For safety reasons, there will be no access at the trail crossing on Monday. Signs alerting pedestrians to this one-day closure will be in place.
The remainder of the trail will be open. The trail is scheduled to reopen early in the evening.
Campus Drive is also closed at Dorothy Lane due to the construction.
The $3 million Dorothy Lane project by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will replace the bridge across the Tunungwant Creek. A detour is in place to direct traffic around the bridge. Vehicles can access University of Pittsburgh at Bradford campus at its westernmost entrance from West Washington Street.
In addition to replacing the bridge, the project will repave the area, upgrade guiderails, remark paving, widen the road and put in sidewalks.
Through August 14, Dorothy Lane remains closed from Route 346 to Campus Drive.
PennDOT reminds drivers that an official detour around the project remains in place. The detour makes use of Route 346, Mechanic Street/South Avenue, Corydon Street, and Dorothy Lane. The detour will be in place through the completion of the project.
