CLEARFIELD — On Monday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will begin replacement work on a Route 146 bridge in Norwich Township.
The bridge spans Potato Creek, about a mile south of the village of Colegrove. The existing single-lane bridge is weight-limit posted for 23-tons for single vehicle and 27-tons for combination vehicles. It carries an average of more than 200 vehicles each day. Replacing the bridge will eliminate the weight postings and remove it from McKean County’s structurally deficient list.
Starting Monday, the bridge will be closed and an official detour using Routes 146, 46, and 6 will be in place.
Project work will include replacement of the old bridge with a two-lane pre-stressed concrete bridge, approach paving, guide-rail upgrades, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items.
All work is weather and schedule dependent. Rylind Construction Co. Inc. of Lewisberry is the contractor on this $1.2 million project. PennDOT expects the bridge to be complete and open to traffic in early December.
