KANE — A Marion, N.Y., man has been jailed on allegations that he was found looking around a Bradford property.
Kenneth Mark Nierenberger, 28, was arraigned Tuesday morning on charges of criminal trespassing, a third-degree felony; loitering and prowling at night time, a third-degree misdemeanor; and public drunkenness, a summary charge.
According to court records, at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Bradford Township Police were dispatched to 15 Erickson Drive for a report that someone had been prowling inside a garage there, then headed toward West Washington Street.
At 1:53 a.m. on West Washington Street, east of Erickson Drive, police found Nierenberger, who explained that he had been staying at 32 Poplin Ave. for a few days until he had a falling out with someone there. He told police he had been at Marilla Reservoir and was trying to get back to Bradford.
The owner of 15 Erickson Drive arrived and identified Nierenberger. Police learned that Nierenberger was discovered when a family dog started growling at the kitchen door that was near the garage, prompting a family member to look out the window and spot Nierenberger, court records stated.
The homeowner allegedly saw Nierenberger walking out of his driveway and confronted him in the road, telling Nierenberger that he did not know him and he did not have permission to be in his garage. Police said Nierenberger shows signs that he was under the influence of a controlled substance, and he admitted to ingesting “dope” at the reservoir, according to court records.
Nierenberger was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Aug. 10.
