Missing one squad member, the four-person team of Makenzy Glover, Austin Unverdorben, Dylan Woods and Stephen White put together an impressive score, finishing 81st out of 147 teams in the open division.
“With a little luck and a fifth team member, we could very well have been celebrating two teams in the top 10,” coach Steve Smith said.
Additionally, Smith busted clay for the Pa. all-state team (top five shooters from the state event held in June in Elysburg) which took runner-up honors to Ohio by a three points.
The participants combined together from the Otto-Eldred Bird Dawg and Oswayo Valley trap teams to compete together.
“These youth trap shooters have been dedicating themselves since the end of the high school league by competing in local ATA events held in Olean, N.Y., Richburg, N.Y., and here locally at the Bradford Gun Club,” Smith said.
Smith thanked those who have supported the youth and this sport as the national champions can now be celebrated.
