An additional charge was added Wednesday in an assault case against a Bradford man.
Joseph J. Montecalvo, 29, now faces a charge of recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor, in addition to his other charges, which were bound to McKean County Court Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone, court records indicated.
Montecalvo is also charged with strangulation, a second-degree felony; terroristic threats and unlawful restraint, both first-degree misdemeanors; two counts of simple assault, both second-degree misdemeanors; and possession of marijuana smoking devices, a misdemeanor, court records stated.
According to court records, on June 30, Montecalvo had been fighting with his girlfriend, and he came home to find his door locked. He kicked it in to find her on her phone calling a friend to get the police and allegedly started to strangle her.
He pushed her on the floor by her head, and threw the phone in a corner, court records stated.
Court records indicate she hit him in the eye to get away, went to the corner where her phone was and threw a chair at him to keep him away.
At one, he allegedly pointed an AK 47 semi-automatic rifle at her and told her he would also shoot police if they came, court records stated.
Several police departments were called to assist Bradford City Police in the incident including officers from Bradford Township, Foster Township and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
Montecalvo is free, having posted $30,000 bail.
