OIL CITY –– The Johnsonburg-Kane combined major league all-star team topped Harborcreek, 2-1, on Sunday to advance to today’s Section 1 championship game vs. Harborcreek.
Today’s game is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch. Harborcreek beat Conneaut, 7-4, in nine innings on Monday.
A Johnsonburg-Kane win would put the team through to the Pennsylvania Little League state championship tournament in Fleetville from Sunday through July 28. The tournament is a double-elimination format, meaning Harborcreek must beat undefeated Johnsonburg-Kane twice.
Today’s game will be broadcast live by St. Marys’ B94 on the dial at 93.9 FM and online at wkbiradio.com. Barry Morgan and Chris Barber will have the call.
The Oil City Little League is hosting the sectional tournament, which is comprised of district champions Conneaut, Harborcreek, Clarion and Johnsonburg-Kane.
The winner from the state tournament advances to regionals and the regional champion heads to the Little League World Series in Williamsport.
