Strangulation allegations were added to a criminal case against a Bradford man.
The charges against 24-year-old Kruze Jordan Carpenter-Stewart — strangulation, a second-degree felony; and simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor — were bound to McKean County Court on Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone.
The case was first filed June 12, but District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer said on Wednesday that the strangulation charge was added June 21.
According to testimony given at a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Stewart was arguing with his then-girlfriend the night of June 11; he eventually left her apartment and sent her several messages through Facebook, including one telling her to come to his house if she cared about him.
Once there, he allegedly told her he wanted her to see him commit suicide. When she tried to take pills from his hand, he punched her in the face, causing her to fall, then choked her until she was able to push herself free, testimony indicated.
Stewart remains incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail.
