CLEARFIELD — On June 15, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation began replacement work for a box culvert on Eleven Mile Road (Route 4023) in Oswayo Township, Potter County.
PennDOT closed the road and removed the culvert but wet, rainy weather has since hampered progress on the project. An official detour using Routes 4023 (Eleven Mile Creek Road), 4025 (Brizzie Hollow Road), 244, and 44 will now be in place through July 14 — one week later than originally announced.
PennDOT will re-open the box culvert and roadway before July 14 if work progress allows.
The box culvert spans Eleven Mile Creek near the village of Chrystal.
The project is a cooperative effort between PennDOT Potter County maintenance and contractor L. C. Whitford Company Inc. of Wellsville, N.Y. Work items include excavation, removal of the existing box culvert, placement of the new box culvert, back-filling for the new box culvert, concrete work, and paving. All work is weather dependent.
