KENNEDY PARK: Anthony T. Falconi of Lewis Run had some information about our recent inquiry on Kennedy Park.
“If I remember correctly: Kennedy Park is or was off of Kennedy Street. It was above Tuna Creek and next to Hull Electric.
“There was a place where bands had concerts. If you walked across the park down the hill you were now in Hanley Park on Davis Street. Long time ago!
“I am sure Marilyn Horne sang with the bands at times, as well as Bentz Horne, her dad.”
We asked our readers recently if they knew the identity of a couple who secretly paid for Anthony’s meal at the Hong Kong Buffet in Bradford.
As an update, he tells us, “I have not got a phone call as to who they are. God Bless them and thank you for being so kind.”
PHOTOS: We have a neat story to share about one of The Era’s own.
Wade Aiken had taken pictures of wolverines in Norway during one of his international excursions — he’s been to five continents. He was contacted by the magazine Wild Hope asking to use his photos in the publication to accompany a story on the largest member of the weasel family.
The magazine calls itself “field notes and images from nature’s front lines.” Wade’s photos accompany a story on wolverines in volume three of the publication. Copies can be ordered online.
“Wild Hope is a print publication about preserving Earth’s biodiversity co-created by naturalists, conservationists, wildlife rehabilitators, veterinarians, biologists, ecologists, nature writers, photographers, and artists. Visit our About and Contributors pages to find out more about us and to share your stories and images. Wild Hope is a project of the Earth Island Institute and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your donations are tax-deductible.”
And of course, Wade’s photos can be seen gracing the pages of The Era pretty often, too.
