PRICE IS RIGHT: Come on down!
That’s what a Bradford couple heard when they went to a taping of The Price Is Right.
The episode of the taping with Kelly Housler and Millard Taylor will air today.
They couldn’t talk about their experience, but readers can watch for themselves at 11 a.m. today on CBS.
An interesting fact: according to the Internet Movie Database, today is the 10th anniversary of Bob Barker’s final episode of The Price Is Right.
Barker hosted his final show on June 15, 2007, and Drew Carey hosted his first regular show in October 2007.
KENNEDY PARK: Does anyone remember a Kennedy Park in Bradford?
A reader called after finding old photographs belonging to her late mother. They are labeled as being from a weiner roast in 1942 in Kennedy Park in Bradford. The photos show a nearby creek and a picnic table.
Can anyone tell us about the park?
MYSTERY WELL: We thought some of our history buffs or oil industry workers would be interested in the 135th anniversary this weekend of the “646 Mystery Well” in nearby Warren County.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Cherry Grove Fire Hall, Clarendon.
According to the event’s website, “the hilltop settlement of Cherry Grove made national history in the Spring and Summer of 1882 when the Mystery Well on Lot #646 ushered in a great oil boom. In a matter of months, hundreds of oil wells were drilled and a town sprang up in this isolated township in the hills. Before the railroad could lay a new line to Cherry Grove the boom went bust.”
The day’s activities will include tours of a replica of the well and tank bottom, horse-drawn trolley rides, a presentation on the 1882 oil boom, a bus tour and hike to the actual Mystery Well and live music.
