A Bradford man was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Richard Luther on criminal charges in two cases — a retail theft case and a drug possession case.
John L. Hallock, 45, is charged in one case with retail theft, a first-degree misdemeanor; and defiant trespassing, a summary charge; and in the second case with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana, all misdemeanors, court records stated.
According to court records, at 7:43 a.m. Feb. 10, entered Walmart in Foster Brook through the grocery side, walked to the electronics department, hunched down by a shelf, looked to right and left, put a set of UE Boom 2 wireless Bluetooth speakers worth $199 under his shirt, stood up, picked up his Sheetz fountain drink from the shelf and walked toward the hardware section. There, he allegedly removed the item from the box and walked out the store with it.
Foster Township Police investigated, watching security footage of the alleged incident. Also, Hallock was not allowed on Walmart property due to an earlier retail theft, court records stated.
Then, at 9:05 a.m. March 24, Kane-based state police pulled over a vehicle in Foster Township. When the officer found out that the driver had an active protection from abuse order against Hallock — her passenger — Hallock was arrested for violating the PFA. He was in possession of marijuana and an unlabeled pill bottle on him containing 14 gabapentin pills, according to court records.
Hallock was released on a total of $7,500 unsecured bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on June 22.
