SMETHPORT — On Thursday in McKean County Court, a Port Allegany man was sentenced to a term in state prison for charges stemming from a police chase in March.
Richard J. Babcock, 44, will serve one to three years in state prison with credit for 96 days of time served for charges of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, driving under the influence of alcohol, habitual offenders and summary charges.
Babcock pleaded guilty June 1 to allegations that on March 5, he failed to stop when police signaled for him to pull over to avoid getting charged with DUI, and ended up leading officers on a high speed chase; during the course of the chase, he failed to keep in his lane, failed to stop at a stop sign and reached a speed of 100 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Also in court, Robert S. Nichols, 55, of Bradford, will serve two to five years in state prison for charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, BAC .02 or higher-third offense and a summary charge.
Jordan M. Reams, 19, of Bradford, will serve three to six months in McKean County Jail with credit for 60 days of time served and one year of probation for charges of burglary and theft by unlawful taking. Reams pleaded guilty May 18 to allegations that between April 8-9, Reams was an accomplice in taking a radio speaker and record player valued at $20 from the Farm Family Restaurant.
Matthew E. Kline, 29, of Bradford, will serve 20 months of probation for charges of stalking, loitering and prowling at night time, possession of a controlled substance and a summary charge. Kline pleaded guilty May 18 to allegations that on Oct. 12, he was prowling on the property of 419 High St., Bradford, looking in windows, trying to get in and communicating with the victim by cell phone, causing her distress.
Todd L. Vansickles, 47, of Turtlepoint, will serve one year of probation for a charge of simple assault.
John M. Lekas, 30, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation for a charge of criminal mischief.
Andrew J. Ludwig, 29, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation for a charge of false identification to a law enforcement officer and a summary charge.
Matthew S. Maholic, 35, of Bradford, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and a summary charge.
Zachary H. Smith, 19, of Bradford, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI-minor and summary charges.
Justin E. Mueller, 32, of Clarendon, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Gene V. Meacham Jr., 28, of Bradford, will serve nine months of probation for charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Terri L. Kenyon, 47, of Lewis Run, will serve six months of probation for charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a summary charge.
